For the second year, a group of lucky nonprofit organizations will receive help from teams of professional creatives and technologists to build a better website for their cause—all in 12 hours. This Dallas-area hackathon event is called The Big Give and it will take place on Saturday, October 3 at the Toyota Connected offices in Plano.

This year The Big Give team sorted through dozens of applications to choose the final ten organizations that will benefit from the collaborative event. “The board is ecstatic about the 10 local, nonprofit organizations that were selected for The Big Give 2019,” said Big Give co-founder, Geoff Ka’alani. “Each of these nonprofits serves the community in an unique and beautiful way: one which builds and revitalizes tiny houses for homeless veterans and their families, an organization serving at-risk youth by providing them with an education in the culinary arts, and a small, but impactful nonprofit in Wichita Falls, which rescues abused and abandoned dogs.”

Armed with a team of developers, designers, writers, and overall tech experts, The Big Give hopes to further expose the amazing work done by local nonprofits and empower the organizations they serve with new software applications or a transformed web presence. Selected nonprofit teams also have the opportunity to attend social media and SEO workshops for further education. “We are incredibly thankful for our dedicated board members and committee leads who have already spent over a hundred hours planning for the 2019 event, those who will be volunteering their time and skillsets for these worthy nonprofit organizations, and our event and venue sponsors who believe in our mission,” said Geoff.
