Hunter Folsom moved back to her hometown of Dallas in 2016 after graduating from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Hunter has always had a passion for service, and she credits her family for initially instilling the value within her. “My parents are people who find a lot of purpose and joy in giving back,” she says. “I’ve seen them go above and beyond in generosity in so many instances. If you express a need or a good cause, they typically will want to be a part of it. So I think that got me started.” Her desire to serve was further cultivated by her time at Pepperdine, where the university’s motto is “Freely ye received, freely give.”
For three months after graduation, Hunter lived and worked in Peru, where she was an intern for Krochet Kids, an organization that holistically equips people living in poverty with the skills, education, and resources to change their circumstances forever. She also served in various ways while in college, including a summer internship with Touch A Life, a non-profit based in Dallas that serves children rescued from child trafficking and other exploitative situations in Ghana, West Africa. Both experiences continued to shape her heart and passion for service.
After returning to Dallas, Hunter got a full-time job with a marketing firm that specialized in helping non-profits spread their message. In her spare time, she launched her own photography business, but she knew she wanted to do more than capture images; she wanted to make a difference in the world, too. So Hunter added a give-back component to her business model, pledging to donate 10% of her proceeds back to Touch A Life. Recently, Hunter has decided to pursue her photography business full-time, so she is ready and available to book photo sessions!
