The free author talk event, including networking opportunities and complimentary light bites and drinks, will be held at Communities Foundation of Texas on Tuesday, July 30 at 5:30pm.

Learn more about the civil rights movement in Dallas through McMillan’s two published works: Kneeling: Poems and Verses Transcending the Turbulent ‘60’s, and Standing: One Man’s Odyssey Through the Turbulent ‘60’s.

Communities Foundation of Texas and Deep Vellum Publishing present the Cause-Minded Conversation Series: We Are One City: Elevating the Story of Dallas centered on four major historical events and corresponding books published by Deep Vellum.

Deep Vellum received an ArtsActivate grant from the City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture to present this series of events focusing on some Deep Vellum’s LaReunion/Dallas-focused titles, centering discussions around community engagement. “The Story of Dallas” series asks questions about how a city can come together through stories to break down divisions.
