Power 2 the Girl Conference

The 5th annual Power 2 the Girl Conference, hosted by Girls Inc. Dallas, is scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd, at Pioneer Natural Resources headquarters in Irving, TX. This year’s conference theme is “Stand in Your Strengths.” It is designed to cater to 400+ middle school and high school girls from public and charter schools within Independent School Districts throughout Dallas County. The majority of conference participants are girls of color who attend Title 1 schools and live in under-resourced, low opportunity areas of Dallas.

The conference day is packed with high-energy activities, workshops, and breakout sessions emphasizing the development of a STRONG, SMART, BOLD mindset. The Stand In Your Strengths theme is all about empowering teen girls to identify and embrace their unique strengths, leveraging them to build confidence, lift up others, and blaze a path to success. Beyond the immediate impact on the participating girls, Girls Inc. Dallas aims to measure the success of the conference through the establishment of new and continued school partnerships resulting from the event. These partnerships play a vital role in extending the Girls Inc. Experience to thousands of girls, fostering positive attitudes toward academics, STEM, and aspirations for higher education. Research indicates that within the first two years of the Girls Inc. Experience, girls demonstrate responsible decision-making, positive relationships, academic excellence, and avoidance of risky behaviors. The long-term goal is to empower girls to excel academically, make informed life choices, and contribute positively to their communities, breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality.
