Meadows Wind Ensemble: The British Invasion
7:30 p.m.
Caruth Auditorium / Owen Arts Center
$18 for adults; $13 for seniors; $12 for students, faculty and staff
“The British Invasion” is most frequently associated with the immensely popular British rock bands that dominated American popular music during the decade of the 1960s, but in reality, the British influence on American music began much earlier and continues to the present. This program will feature music by a number of British composers including Gustav Holst, William Walton, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Stephen Montague. And no program called The British Invasion would be complete without a medley of hits by the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Herman’s Hermits, and more, arranged for rock band and wind orchestra by longtime friend of the Meadows Wind Ensemble, Danny Davis. Plan now to attend this can’t-miss performance complete with Union Jacks and all the spirit of the BBC Proms!
