About the Icla da Silva Foundation:
The Icla da Silva Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed 32 years ago in memory of an 11-year-old girl from Brazil named Icla da Silva. After she was diagnosed with leukemia, her family brought her to New York City in search of a cure. A compatible bone marrow donor was never found and she passed at the age of 13.
The mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save the lives of patients with diseases whose only cure is a bone marrow or cord blood transplant by providing emotional, logistical, and financial support to remove barriers to treatment.
