Car Seat Event

ABOUT
Each of the certified Car Seat Technician staff members at Family Compass, a 501c3 nonprofit, will be completing a handful of 30-minute appointments with families to either install a new car seat or check for proper installation on existing car seats. Volunteers will be paired with staff to support each visit by grabbing supplies and supervising children. * Please sign up at the link attached to this listing. *
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
9-10am: Light set-up and overview of duties.
10am-1pm: Families will be continuously arriving for their appointments during the event. Car Seat Technicians will each have a lane of cars ready for their appointments. Upon instruction, volunteers may be instructed to grab a specific car seat or booster seat from the supply area. Additionally, you will help supervise and entertain the family’s children since they tend to get out of the car during the long appointment. The children need to be kept close to the parent/guardians and away from other cars for safety.
After 1pm: You are welcome to stay to help clean up remaining supplies.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear comfortable shoes, cool clothing, and sun protection. We will be outside the entire time so please come prepared with water and whatever else you may need to stay comfortable.

If you speak Spanish, please email Kyla Lynch at klynch@family-compass.org to let us know. Several of our Car Seat Technicians are bilingual but some are not. We could strategically place you with an English-speaking staff member in case Spanish-speaking families have questions and you could assist with simple translations if other Spanish-speaking staff members are busy.
