Join the Division of Art for the opening reception of Tamiko Kawata’s exhibition Beyond Edge, Beyond Surface, which will be featured in the Pollock Gallery from November 1 to December 1.
Through her artwork, Tamiko Kawata searches for another vision and another way of thinking for her life in the expression between sculptures, paintings and installation works. Her life and work are influenced by the philosophies of “Dadaism” and the “Bauhaus” movement, which she learned during her college years. Her choice of materials and interpretation are through the differences that she experiences between life in America and Japan. She states, “I am writing an American diary in visual expression.
