Catch Up and Read is an amazing nonprofit that has been transforming lives through literacy since 2009. Their 15-year proven model leveraging teachers to tutor after school has resulted in thousands of children learning how to read.
Every May, Catch Up and Read hosts Reading Rallies on each campus—think graduation-type celebrations where children cross the stage, get a medal and certificate from the principal and are cheered on by their families. This is an especially big deal for children who have traditionally struggled so have never been praised publicly for their academic accomplishments.
Dallas Doing Good readers are invited to come to the ceremony as our guests 5-6pm!
Volunteers are also welcome to arrive early at 3:30pm to help decorate the auditorium, cheer for students, serve pizza to families and more.
Volunteers are welcome at 3:30pm, event runs 5-6pm and clean-up should be complete by 6:30pm.
