Good morning! I came across your organization on Google and felt compelled to reach out. The White Rock Home Tour is scheduled for this weekend, and we are 25 volunteers short.
The WRHT is Victor H. Hexter Elementary PTAs largest fundraising event. As a Title I school, financial needs for our students often exceed the budget DISD provides our campus. The funds raised from the WRHT help support the following:
• Fund the Catrina Cooper Pantry, which provides food and other necessities to families in need throughout the school year
• Send 5th grade to Science camp free of charge
• Fund off-campus field trips for all grade levels
• Award scholarships to feeder pattern graduating Seniors
• Provide each teacher with $250 grant for teaching supplies
• Culture events for our teachers, staff and administration to ensure retention at our school
• Funds books for our library and classroom libraries
• Supplements our garden program, directly funding our Garden TA position
• And the possibility of funding future Teaching Assistant positions to close the learning gap that exists between students
We do require each volunteer to be Voly screened, which is include in the Sign Up Genius link and are hoping to have all positions filled by next week. Middle and High School students can also sign up as volunteers and we will validate their volunteer hours!
