Dr. Martinez is the Executive Director of Bachman Lake Together, a nonprofit that empowers families of young children in Bachman Lake, many of whom are new to this country, to be their children’s first teachers and advocates. By bringing together educators, community partners, and local leadership, Bachman Lake Together aims to create a neighborhood where the developmental and learning needs of all children are fully met.

Sometimes, small calls to action can spark profound change. Over 15 years ago, Ron Carey responded to an email through his son’s Boy Scout troop, which led him to Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). That seemingly minor act of volunteering grew into a personal mission when Ron brought his Sunday school class into the fold. With the support of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, his efforts expanded significantly over the years, showing how answering a small call for help can ignite powerful waves of transformation.
