If we know anything at Dallas Doing Good, it is that there is no shortage of local organizations and nonprofits dedicated to promoting good in the DFW community. For the last five years, our goal has been to share the stories of these Dallas do-gooders, and now, we are excited to continue our mission by partnering with the Communities Foundation of Texas for this year’s North Texas Giving Day (NTXGD).
Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event that encourages everyone to give back to their community by supporting the causes they care about. NTXGD has helped raise awareness and support for North Texas nonprofits since 2009, raising over $441 million over the last 13 years. The annual event inspires a culture of community-wide giving with the belief that “everyone can find their passion and give with purpose.”
For the past four years, Dallas Doing Good has partnered with NTXGD to highlight the stories of giving day, from long-time contributors to local nonprofits making a difference. At Dallas Doing Good, we hope to raise awareness of giving day and encourage people to give to their favorite organization.
NTXGD will be held on Thursday, September 22, so mark the date in your calendar and visit northtexasgivingday.org to browse participating organizations. For more opportunities to give back to local organizations, check out the volunteer page here on our website.

Josh Taylor was deployed to the Middle East, flying missions into Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, when he realized that many of the people he spoke to were divided. It was 2018, and Josh had already been in the Armed Forces for over ten years, but he wanted to find a cause that could unite the nation. “Flying 65,000 miles and spending 300 hours in a machine gives somebody a moment to think,” Josh says. Eventually, he found his answer– our youth, and alongside them, our educators– have the strength to be the foundation for our country.
