Portraits with Purpose: Adoption awareness with Heart Galleries of Texas

For many children in Texas’ foster care system, finding a permanent, loving home can feel out of reach. Each day, more than 6,000 children in the Texas foster care system are waiting to be adopted and find a permanent place to call home. The Heart Galleries of Texas is changing that narrative through photography. These galleries use striking portraits that capture the individuality and spirit of each child to families and communities ready to embrace them.

With over a decade of proven success in Central Texas– where adoption rates have consistently outpaced the state average– the Heart Gallery model is now expanding statewide, thanks to support from the 88th Texas Legislative session. It has been in the North Texas region since September 2021. This initiative, powered by dedicated professionals like Tanya Houk, Director of Child Advocacy for the Heart Gallery of North Texas, aims to ensure every child can find a place to call home.
